Small and interesting objects are used to add some color, or to make a boring place a little bit more interesting. Created by the Hong-Kong based Sequoia-studio “GĂ©lule” is a concept radio clock shaped like a capsule with a backlit LCD display and an omni-directional speaker and is a great object that can attract attention in any room. The volume can be adjusted by rotating the speaker. Personally I would like such an interesting radio clock to wake up me in the morning, because it has a simple design that looks awesome

Boiled Leather Stools – Simon Hasan

Medieval knights and soldiers once wore boiled leather or cuir bouilli armor. Thick leather was boiled in water, oil or wax. The treated leather remained soft enough for it to be molded into various shapes. The hardened leather with a wood-like consistency provided some protection against bludgeoning blows. It was used as scale armour or in cuisses or greaves – thigh and shin guards.

Small One Room Apartment Interior Design Inspiration

Last week I was in Bucharest to meet a few people that I knew from the internet. We spoke for a long time online but we never saw each other in real life, and I’ve decided that right now I could go to visit Bucharest and meet a few of my “digital friends“. Now to avoid paying between 50 & 100 euro/night to stay at a hotel a good friend of mine ( Adi ) took me to his little one room apartment, and how I have a blog about architecture, interior design, furniture, etc …I’ve decided to take some pictures, because I really liked how Adi made that small place look really good. Now let’s take a look at this small one room apartment, that is a great example of how you can make a small apartment look really good.

The Living Lounge Chair

I don’t know about you, but after sleeping on the floor until my bedroom furniture gets here, I am really excited to see comfy looking chairs. Take the Living Lounge Chair for example. The concept was created by JGreen Design and won the 2008 Niche Awards, even though the price is more than most of us would pay: $7,500. The dimensions are 96 x 38 x 30-inch and it definitely has style, looking like a living creature with black arms made of poplar and a body with lavender micro-suede. But is it worth paying that much? The company is taking 50% deposits from those that definitely need to lie down on this chaise lounge. It’s a limited edition so if you want yours, hurry up!

Catching the Wild – The Coat Stand

I remember how much I loved westerns movies when little, so I suppose that’s why this odd and innovative piece of furniture, Catching the Wild, appeals to me. It’s a coat stand made of steel and polyester rope that looks just like a lasso. It should be perfect to catching your clothes if you’re into … wild things. My idea is that it would work really well in a bar for cowboys, don’t you think?

Flowing Floor Designs by Alistair Bramley

Dimension Flooring by Alistair Bramley uses a radically different design concept to achieve the final effect of what looks like contour lines on laminate flooring. The designer did not create the design himself in the traditional sense but he conceived the idea of letting the traffic flow of a particular space dictate the placement of the lines. Video footage of how people use living spaces were first taken and then processed to obtain the abstract pattern which can then be printed onto the flooring material.
